How to keep Chickens Cool
Chickens are much happier when it’s warm in the summertime, however they can become to hot. Some of the ways to tell is if they do not come out of the shade all day. If they are panting or it their feathers are spread out. The main way to make sure they are staying is with lots of water! A full grown chicken can drink up to pints of water a day especially in the summer heat. Having big five gallon waters ensures there is enough for at least 20 chickens!
I absolutely love this waterer pictured above with its easily removable lid and large water trough! Another way is placing ice cubes in their water dishes so it stays nice and refreshing for them!
